LASGO - Some Things

"Some Things" starts with a playful instrumental intro followed by the first single-release "Something" which entered the German Charts on a high position. The album consists of 13 Dance-Pop tracks which combine mainstream dance-music with SynthPoP-elements based on simple structures und excellent female and male singing. The tracks are produced by Peter Luts, who is also responsible for some remixes of music by Milk Inc.. On the whole the album is not very varied but delivers catchy and absolute danceable Dance-Pop music -> perfect for parties.

XANTHIPPE - Reborn

This is the second album by Xanthippe which was completely produced and released in 2000 by themselves. "Reborn" is a very solid presentation of melancholic, smooth SynthPoP based on conventional SynthPoP structures with excellent lead and back vocals. Xanthippe sometimes freshen up their melancholic songs with short playful parts (f.e. in Deification at 02:36). This short varied melodies prevent "Reborn" from being boring or sounding one-sided. On the whole "Reborn" is a varied album that creates a deep melancholic atmosphere without leading to depression. What I like most are the melodic refrains and the intelligent use of conventional synthetics.
It is not really an album for dance floor but for people who like sophisticated, 'slow beat' Synthpop.

DARK DISTANT SPACES - Then-Now-Forever

Dark Distant Spaces are back with a new full-length album after they released "Secret Words & Little Treasures" in 1994. Before this album they released the surprising single "Fashion".
Most of the Songs of "Then-Now-Forever" were originally recorded in 1984 and DDS re-recorded and mixed them together with brand-new ones. As on "Secret Words & Little Treasures" DDS don't say a word about which songs are re-recorded an which are new ones.Well but it doesn't matter as all songs fit perfectly with the album-concept. The result is an excellent 'synthetic' release which can convince all along the line and represents classic, sometimes melancholic SynthPoP freshened up with modern Synths.

I am sure that DDS will be able to sell more than 100 copies in comparison with the first 1984 tape-copies of the original version!

NEUROPA - Beyond Here And Now

"Neuropa" derived from "Neues Europa" released their 4th album after the single-release "Bound" and remain true to their early 80s SynthPoP style. Neuropa really understand to freshen up their music with modern drums and synths without destroying the 80s feeling. "Beyond Here And Now" sounds more swinging and grooving than their previous releases. I have to say that I really agree to this change. Therefore the song "Fast Children" is one of my favorites beside "Bound" and "Soul Mirror".

Well, "Beyond Here And Now" is another sample for perfect 80s SynthPoP!
Keep on that good Work!
